Discrimination Claims

We have successfully represented plaintiffs via dozens of individual lawsuits as well as class action lawsuits throughout California for claims of discrimination in employment or accommodations based on the Fair Employment and Housing Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act including obtaining the then-largest class action settlement under the Unruh Civil Rights Act in California history.

California Civil Code Section 51 provides that “All persons within the jurisdiction of this state are free and equal, and no matter what their sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sexual orientation, citizenship, primary language, or immigration status are entitled to the full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges, or services in all business establishments of every kind whatsoever.”

Simply put, the law does not a allow a business to treat you differently based upon who you are — whether that is a difference in what you pay for goods or services, the amount of pay you receive at your job or the conditions of your housing or employment.
